I bought a Sansa Clip 1GB mp3 player which came with a 30 day free trial from Rhapsody. I downloaded songs to the player using that program and now, after the subscription to Rhapsody has expired, the message synchronize to continue your music subscription keeps flashing up. It wont let me play any of my music. I read through some of the other answers given, but nothing seems to work. I’ve tried authorizing it, but that didn’t work either. Is it possible for me to continue to listen to the Rhapsody tracks without subcribing again? Or will I have to redownload all the tracks using another program?
Thanks in advance,
Leah

No, it isn’t . As long as you’re part of Rhapsody, you can listen to the songs, but they “expire” when you’re subscription runs out. Basically, you’re renting them with Rhapsody, not buying them. At this point you should just delete them. Now you can rip your personal CD’s and add them to your Clip, or buy tracks online, unless you decide to sign up for Rhapsody.
Thank you very much for that answer. It was one of the most coherent and to the point responses I have seen on here.
I was thinking of subscribing to Rhapsody, but I really dont like the idea of renting the tracks. I assume that they have an extra fee for buying the tracks?
Anyway, now that I’m clearing the device of the tracks, are there any other downloading sites you would reccomend?

As far as buying tracks online, I like Amazon.com. Their prices are competitive, there’s frequently free tracks available, and the songs are all in MP3 format, which will work on just about any player. There is a thread in the Off Topic board http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=videoconverters&thread.id=1134
that gives you some other options.
Thanks again. I find this whole process very irritating.
Is there anything wrong with using sharing programs like LimeWire?

I’m pretty sure that they are illegal. I don’t know what the exact consequences could be, but it’s nothing I have ever been willing to risk trying. That thread I referenced in the last post shows some legally free options though.
Oh, ok. My whole family uses LimeWire, I think, so I always assumed it was legit. Yeah, I guess I’ll steer clear of those sites. I’d rather not risk it either. What is the cheapest site to download from?

The only one I have downloaded from was Amazon, but I had a veritable butt-load of CD’s already in my computer before I got my Sansas, so I mostly have used that music.
I really have absolutely no cds, and I dont know how to rip songs off of those anyway.
Maybe I’ll try Amazon.
