No Sound in One Ear


My Clip Zip (around 1 year old now) has an issue with lost sound within the left ear. If I reposition the headphone wire slightly, or hold it in tighter, the sound will be as normal. This is a common issue with headphones, but it’s _ not _ the headphones on this occasion. The same problem will happen with other headphones or speakers, and they all work fine in other devices such as my laptop.

This is probably a coincidence, but it’s worth noting that the problem occured shortly after rockboxing my Clip.

I’m sure the new installation of Rockbox is just a coincidence. If you’re still within the 1 year warranty period, I would contact SanDisk about a possible replacement.

Hmm, it seems I’ve underestimated the length of time I’ve had it, and I’m past the warranty.

Is there a fix for the problem, or do I need to bite the bullet and invest in a new device?

Only if you’re adventuresome and want to try and take the device apart . . . and handy with a very small-tipped soldering iron.
