My Passport 2tb for mac can't access backup tab

Hello,

I have a new passport and although i have followed all the installation instructions with regard to setting partition and made sure i have up to date firmware, the back up and retrieve tabs are greyed out and i cant use the device.

I’ve seen some other posts with a similar problem and they seemed to have accessed ‘backup’ via the home tab.  Have had a look if I can do the same but can’t see any way to go about it.

Any suggestions on what i need to do?

Hi, first you need to be sure that the Passport is recognized by the PC, you can check on the Computer/My Computer window. If it is recognized, it should show up on the Smartware Home tab. If you click on the Passport icon the Backup/Retrieve tabs will be available.

thanks.  It’s definitely recognised through smartware and also disk utitlities.  I can copy files over to the passport, i just cant run the backup.

Hi again, you can try uninstalling Smartware and then reinstall the latest version.
