I just bought My 1TB Passport 2 days ago, when I installed it on my laptop, to my surprise I can’t click the Back-up and Retrieve button. I tried to erase and reinstall the WD SMartware, yet still the same problem…What may be the problem? What should I do? Please help.
You need to go to the home tab and select the drive ( passport ) by clicking on it
after that the backup and retrieve will be available
unless of course if the drive is not connected to the computer 
I have a similar problem， but it is the “My Passport settings” unclickable. I’ve seleted both item (computer and passport) in the home tab, and it still didn’t work.
How to fix this??
All I’m looking for is help as I bought a 1TB WD elements drive and when I plugged it in, its locked. It didn’t prompt, it just loaded up and nothing can be copied on to it. Tried 3 different machines and still locked. Tried loading Smartware and it doesnt allow you to change settings. Help welcome?
