My Fuze has 744 songs on it. When I plug it in to my computer to try to manage the tracks, only about 635 or so of the songs can be seen, or moved. How do I access the other hundred or so songs?
Change the USB mode on the player’s menu before connecting to the pc. Don’t foget to change it back later. Never use autoconnect. Choose either MSC or MTP. MSC is the preferred choice as it gives the most flexibility, however MTP must be used if you are using protected files. Choose one or the other and stick with it.
The computer can only see files transferred in either MSC or MTP mode, but not both at the same time. The Sansa sees all tracks. You can manage the other files if you switch modes before plugging in the Sansa.
The solution to this dilemma is to load all of your music files in one mode, or simply remember which group is in each respective mode. This is why most users stick with one mode.

Thank you so much, but my computer will not recognize my Fuze in MTP mode, which I do believe those 100 or so songs were loaded. How do I get my computer to recognize my Fuze in MTP mode?

If you have a Windows PC, the MTP drivers are part of Windows Media Player 10 (or higher). Update WMP if you’re using a previous version.
The key here is to remember that MTP mode is a “virtual” mode supported by Windows Media Player 10 and later. The drivers for MTP are an integral part of WiMP. Note that you do not have to open Windows Media Player to employ MTP mode. The computer will see the Sansa as a Media Device rather than a Memory Device, allowing several additional capabilities, like DRM transfer capability, song ratings, album art, easier playlisting, and more, in a more streamlined package.
Now, everything isn’t all rosy with MTP, as it does add a few limitations, like not being able to print a simple list of files, or perform a check of the drive for errors. For this, MSC mode is needed. MTP mode also can involve appended file names, strange gobbledygook added to the beginning of a file name, making for some interesting folder searches.
First, be sure that WiMP is updated to version 10, better yet version 11. Windows XP, as a footnote, was shipped with WiMP9; this needs to be updated for MTP capability.
The most common situation involving “missing” music happens if the Sansa is connected to one PC running with MTP capability, and a transfer is made. The sample music on the Sansa was loaded using MTP mode.
After installing WiMP, select MTP mode on your Sansa via Settings > System Settings > USB Mode > MTP. If you have Auto Detect selected, the player will establish an MTP connection if possible; otherwise, it will fall back to MSC. Thus, for troubleshooting MTP, always manually select this mode before starting.
If the device is connected, open the Device Manager and see if the Sansa is listed under portable device. If MTP isn’t operating correctly, right click on this listing and select Uninstall. After a brief delay, you can try connecting again, allowing Windows to locate the correct driver.
