on page 22 of the user manual, under the heading Playing Music, clause 2. select from the music content groupings: Shuffle lists, Artists, Albums, Songs, genres, Playlists, or Folders.
however in my Zip, I have different this, I have instead “Play All” and “Recently Added” and the rest is the same.
so I assume they are the same thing?
The “Play All” option, present on all previous Sansa mp3 players was eliminated in the Zip. At the requests of many people here on the forum, it was added back via one of the firmware updates. Apparently the manual was not updated to reflect the change.
“Play All” is not the same as “Shuffle”. Shuffle is a separate option.
OK, but I have Clip Zip and there is no “Shuffle” in the Music directory, just “Play All”, “Recently Added”,“Artists”, “Albums”,“Songs”, “Genres”, “My Top Rated”, “PLaylists”,“Folders”. The “Play All” does shuffle a bit, but not well. I tried to download the firmware updater, but it fails with an “Error Extracting Libraries” message. I’m not sure what to do now.
Don’t use the Updater; if you want to update the firmware just follow the manual install instructions. It’s very easy and actually takes less time than downloading and installing the Updater, then using it to update the firmware.
The Shuffle option is under Music Options in the Settings menu. You can also access it on the fly by pressing the down button while a song is playing.
