Is Formatting microSDHC cards a best practice?

I just purchased a 16gb SanDisk microSD card (this is my 3rd) and I couldn’t remember if I ever formatted the other 2 cards or not. I thought that now is a good time to ask if formatting these cards are a best practice.

Generally not unless you’re having a problem. They come pre-formatted.

What memory size is it? 32GB and smaller (come from the factory and) should be formatted as FAT32. Only 64GB (and above) cards should be formatted as exFAT.
