New Sansa Fuze with 8 GB and have inserted media card with photos and music . All can be read when unit is connected to computer. But we cannot find the music and photos on the sd card when using normally.
Were we supposed to format the sd card specifcally for the fuze? How do we access theese songs and photos? Should they be visible through the regular music and photo options on the home screen?

Did you use the SMC (Sansa Media Converter) to convert and install the photos? You shoud be able to just drag & drop music files to the card with no problem.

Not necessarily. You only need to format the card in very rare circumstances.
How do we access theese songs and photos?
They will show up in the player’s menus as everything else does, but will have a little square icon to the left of the title indicating that the file is ‘residing’ on the card.

Tapeworm, your advice is usually good, however don’t advise people to use SMC to convert their photos. Imo SMC should be avoided unless one must use it for videos. For photos, any image editing software will work. The Fuze handles regular JPG images as long as they are small. I use the software that came with my Canon digital camera to make copies of my images that are around 600x450. Those look nice on the Fuze. Some might want to make even smaller copies if they have many photos and want to save space, perhaps closer to the dimensions of the Fuze screen, perhaps around 300x225 or even smaller?

I know that JK , but I wasn’t really ‘advising’ it’s use, merely trying to ascertain what process catajane was using to get the photos there in the 1st place, so we could hopefully eliminate and/or diagnose where the problem is. When someone posts a problem, they very rarely ever give enough information to give a ‘pat’ answer, so ‘qualifying’ questions must be asked to order to narrow down the parameters and hopefully come up with a suggestion or solution.
I suppose I could have just asked, “How did you put the photos and music onto your player?”, but I didn’t.
I agree with you that SMC should be avoided, hopefully altogether soon.

I dont know… I knida like SMC I see why most dont but With SMC I can put pics and vids on with minimal work. I will be glad to see it go away but while its there why not use it? And with regard to how to advise somebody who is a Newbie probably wants the easiest way to do things for now. Once they get more proficent with the fuze then you can offer more complex solutions that avoid SMC. Thats What I find is the best way to approach things.
