HELP! 2GB Clip Not Recognized In Any Mode All Of A Sudden

Hi, guys,

Well after giving much advice here myself, I am finally in need of help!

My 2 & 1/2 year old 2GB Clip suddenly is not recognized or accessible on my computer.

I plug it in to the 'puter, but it doesn’t show up in My Computer nor the Device Manager!!!

I’ve tried MTP/MSC/Auto-detect/forcing MSC with center button…no difference (All I need is MSC- I just do drag and drop)

I tried different cables.

The computer does recognize other devices.

No changes to my 'puter- i.e. no new software or upgrades.

I’m running Vista basic on a 3GHz PIV.

Help! I need to access my Clip so I can add new music!!!

Anyone have any clues? It was working fine all these years with this same computer…

Tried reformatting- still not working…now I’ve got no way to get music back onto it =

I’ve been having the same problem now for a while.  I’ve contacted customer service and they told me I need to buy another clip after going back and forth multiple times.  l know it’s not much help but that’s the answer I’ve been given after 2 months of messing around with the thing.  It still worked when I would go to an XP computer but now I don’t know anyone with XP anymore so I’m just stuck I guess.

Did you lock it onto hold and push the center button?

I tried everything-

I think the jack on the Clip that the USB cable connects to was the problem- everything else worked fine…it just wouldn’t make connection.

On my new Clip, I’ve put a piece of tape over that opening, so that when I’m on the riding mower or the tractor, dust and dirt won’t get in there.

Anyone know where I could get some kind of plug that would fit that opening?

OK, found a nice source for rubber caps for the Clip’s USB port:

http://www.bestbyte.net and then search on the product number, CBUS01CPMF.

OK price-wise, at 49 cents.  (Better would be a few at that price, for what these are, in the end …)  But, $2.49 to ship in the U.S.

THANKS!!!

$3 to save my new Clip…well worth it, and better than a piece of tape!

Sure thing.

My recommendation:  buy a few at that price (shipping stays the same until more than 6, and then only increases a bit).

My thought exactly! Ya never know when they’ll come in handy…or if one gets lost…
