having issues on charging battery-help

I have tried to charge my fuze for like two days now and it is only on 46% charged. what gives. I am on a lap top and plugged in and the battery looks like the it is charging but it never gets above 46%.

Unplug your fuze form the computer. Slide the power switch up. Hold it for 15-20 seconds. Then once it resets, plug it in. See if it charges better. Have you tried connecting it to a Desktop PC?

The Fuze should take in a full charge in a few hours, from a depleted condition.

Laptops are notorious for shaving those milliamps from the USB port, as they try to save every last ampere-hour for the computer.  Check your USB port properties to be sure that the laptop isn’t turning the port down when hibernating.

Also, the USB 2.0 standard allows for 500 mA available at the USB port.  Check if the port is USB 2.0.

As a possible workaround, especially with a laptop, it’s a great idea to use a powered hub or an AC adaptor to charge the device fully.  This way, the laptop is used for data transfers and “topping off” the Sansa only, when the current draw drops considerably.

Ok I have tried to reset it by holding the power button up for 15 sec. and all it does is turn on and turn off? does it say it has reset or what. has far as the charging the from the laptop it is a 2.0 usb port and I did go out and buy a wall outlet one to see if that works and left it on for allday friday and nothing still nothing iam 10% now and want beable to do anything with is soon. what gives?

My computer does recognize it and the battery does strobe like it is charging but never charges. This is so frustrating. I got it for x-mas so I don’t have a recite. We thru the box away with everything else only thing we keep was the little disk and white little instruction booklet that doesn’t really tell you anything but to go to sansa.com/support. I have no idea what to do next?

You kind of answered your own question.  Several suggestions were offered within this thread and apparently they did not work for you.  I’m sorry for this, but the forum can only do so much.  I would think the next logical step would be to get Sandisk support involved.  Support information is located here

The Fuze, if ON, will power down in two seconds or so, and will perform the soft reset after 10-15 seconds.  If you have sensitive headphones on, you will hear the soft click in the background.

If the Fuze is OFF, the soft reset will also work, and at about 10 seconds, yuo will hear the “click” as it resets.

The soft reset restores the player using the data saved during the last successful power-down.  This is what’s normally happening in the background as your player says “goodbye” on the screen.

The folks at SanDisk Support can be quite helpful in guiding you through a problematic Sansa, and can authorize a replacement is this is the solution.  Call them at 1-866-SANDISK for assistance.

i have gottin a hold of tech support and Ann helped me she told me to download and update the firmware on my Fuze. I did so and she told me to start charging and give it 3-4 hours to charge. I will let you all how it turns out
