Go list won't accept podcasts

It appears that, in the new firmware, you can’t put podcasts into the Go playlist. The player says “Song added to playlist”, but when you go to Go, it says “Empty”. If this is so, it means no “on-the-fly” playlists for podcasts, a real bummer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Miikerman. Just done some testing with the following results (the Clip is being loaded in MSC mode so I can control where files are placed; I refer to “physical” folders as they appear in Windows Explorer):

Files with the Podcast genre will appear in the Podcast folder on theClip regardless of which folder they are physically in (Music or Podcasts).

Files in the physical Podcast folder will only appear in the Clip podcast folder if they have the genre Podcast. If they don’t have the genre Podcast, they will appear in the Clip’s Music folder.

Files with Podcast genre will not go into Go list regardless of whether they are placed in the Music folder or the Podcast folder.

If you change the genre to something like PCast as Miikerman suggests, the files will appear on the Clip in the Music folder, but you can put them into Go lists. Of course, this means that you have to go in and change all the genres after downloading the Podcasts from the Internet.

I discovered something else with this exercise - some of my Podcasts had got “lost” among the music files because they arrived with no genre.

pardon my ignorance but what is the to go list for again? is it for quicker accessibility for files that one would rather not navigate to via the clip menu?

The Go List is a user-generated playlist that you can build without your PC, an on-the-fly list of songs you’d like to hear.

Note that the Go List has two modes: populate while listening to each song, and populate from the “songs” menu by their names.

Try this description of Using The Go List(perhaps it could be a sticky thread!).  Hope this answers your question.

that is definiately a bug. I’m guessing the lsit view for podcast hasn’t disabled the podcast add with holding middle button.

Files placed in the Physical Podcast folder should appear under Podcast in the UI regardless of the genre.

Go List is for Music playlist and it excludes Podcasts and Audiobooks in the current implementation.

Its conceivable we will expand the Go List to handle more than just music content in the future.

But the Clip says “Added to Go list” when you try to add a Podcast.

Shouldn’t it be up to me what goes into the go list?  I can see excluding podcasts from shuffle since that’s a computer generated “playlist” but the go list is a list of tracks *I* choose to play.

Please don’t take away my choices.

Thanks,

Tim

Sorry about this its an obvious bug.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I love the Clip!

Please come out with a large screen iPod Touch killer!  We’ll be all over it!

Thank goodness sansafix!!! I surely hope so . My main use of this Clip is to listen to Podcasts I subscribe to. This fix would really be what I would want since my Podcasts are ordered Hour 3, Hour 2, Hour 1. Obviously this is not the order I’d like to listen to this show. So having the ability to add the Podcasts to the Go-List would allow me to place the Podcasts in the order I’d like to listen to them.

The current sorting order of First to Last could also be fixed in a future fimware update by giving users the choice under Settings perhaps, to order Podcasts from First to Last or Last to First but just giving us the ability to add them to the Go-List would do the trick too. Please, please, please sansa, help us out on this one. I would love to see this bug fixed.

Thanks,
