Ok, I have been reading about BOTH the fuse and fuse plus and I feel very confused about the different Versions. I know fuze has v1 ans v2, I just found both firmware versions for fuze. Does the Fuze Plus also have v1 and v2? I think they do. My partner just bought one and its V1, while mine is V2. Is there firmware for each versions? If so, where?
Another question on firmware: My partner put V2 firmware on her V1 fuze plus. How will this affect performance?
Thanks!
I forgot to mention that she has Linux so she is doing a manual update.

I don’t know of any hardware changes to the Fuze+ that would make some V1’s and others V2’s. There was a change in numbering the firmware versions (the old ones started with 01, newer ones start with 02), but this was simply a software change.
Your confusion may be due to the fact that with older Sansa players, you could positively identify a V1 or V2 by the firmware version, but that isn’t the case (so far) with the Fuze+.

If there are two separate firmware versions of a player due to hardware differences, then it would be noted in the firmware post. You’ll see it in both the thread title and in the post itself.
My guess is that with the fuze+ when the lock feature was changed from swiping the touchpad to just pressing the power button, that’s when the firmware version was changed from 01.xx.xx to 02.xx.xx.
There is only one hardware version of the Fuze+. The firmware numbering system was changed as previously mentioned. There were some fairly serious bugs when it came out and the firmware was changed so that once you update to one of the “2” versions, you cannot roll back to the “1” firmware version.
The 02 builds are the only way to fly, if you haven’t updated your firmware yet. The lock feature has been redirected to a brief single press of the power button rather than the problematic “swipe to unlock” method.
