Chris Ramseyer replied to a TweakTown reader about SanDisk’s forthcoming SSD firmware. It was shared to the forums by the reader’s relative. Awesome sauce.
First off, Chris is really thoughtful and took the time to hash out a detailed reply. Secondly, he was more specific than the article about the issue with the 5.03 firmware. 5.04 fixes a problem in 5.03’s WHQL Certification. That certification is important to an SSD manufacturer’s OEM partners. Lastly, he’s following up with his SanDisk contacts about releasing the firmware before SandForce lands with 5.05, so hopefully we’ll see something in the form of a beta release soon.
