Extreme Portable SSD drive unlock is extremely dysfunctional

The general storage functions of this product seem fine, but the drive unlock feature is buggy to the point of being effectively unusable. Even though I’ve entered my password, it soon forgets that I’ve entered my password and I need to re-enter my password to continue access. This is not just annoying, but also a huge waste of time because each time this happens, it causes Windows Explorer to freeze for a while before I can re-enter my password. This used to happen every few minutes, and now it happens every few seconds. Sometimes I am refused access even though it just said I entered my password correctly. I am in the process of very slowly salvaging all my secure data out of this product before I lose it all.

I’ve worked out that problem is less likely to occur in the middle of one continuous list of file copy tasks into or out of the secure area. The problem happening “every few seconds” is only when I move rather than copy, perhaps because the drive needs to keep switching between copy and delete tasks. By copying rather than moving my data out of the secure area, it looks like I’m able to salvage all but a handful of files.
