My Sansa e250 v2 won’t recognize my 8gb micro sdhc card. I’ve read in other posts on this site that this mp3 player can read sdhc cards, but I can’t seem to get this too work. (firmware says 01.02.24A, which I thought was for v1’s, but the back of the player says v2)
You can’t always trust the back plate information, particularly with refurbished players.
According to your firmware version #, you definitely have a v1 model. If it were truly a v2, the firmware number would start with an 03. At least the firmware you have is the latest one, so you won’t have to update.
But to get that player to recognize anything larger than a 2GB card, you’ll need to install 3rd-party firmware called Rockbox. Some feel it’s worth it, others don’t. It can take some getting used to. There are numerous discussions on it her on the forum. Use the Search box (upper left) or as the newspaper boys on the street corner in the past said, “Read all about it” at www.rockbox.org.

I did look at rockbox and got a little confused on how to do it, but I guess I’ll jump into that now. Thank you very much. I’ve had this mp3 player for a month and have yet to use it because first the card was corrupt, I finally got my replacement, and the mp3 player won’t read it >.< Thanks again!
You don’t need an micro SD card to use your player. Your e250 has 2gb of memory built in. You can “expand” memory with a micro SD card, but you don’t need to. Use your USB cable to connect the e250 to your computer and transfer music to it. Thats all you need to do.
