I just bought the Sandisc Cruzer Glide 32GB flash drive to move photos from one MAC to another.
-I plugged in my MAC running 10.4.11 and slid the folders on that I wanted to move. I did not install or use the Sandisc software because it was compatable with 10.5
-I plgged the drive into my MAC running 10.6.8 and moved the files over
-I then slid the files off of the USB drive into my Macs trash, it looked as though they were off of it
-I then plugged the USB back into my older MAC and the drive reads full
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for responding. Most of the responsed I have found on the forum are realted to Wndows machines

Did you empty your Trash while the flash drive was still connected? If not, they are still there, although hidden.
Tapeworm, I did not empty the trash on my Mac while the USB drive was still plugged in. They are still in my trash
The issue is that I thought the files were removed from my USB drive. The folders are no longer visible on the USB drive but there is no space left on it. Does not make sense at all
Thanks
On Mac if you do not empty the trash before the USB drive is disconnected it will not actually free the space. can fix this 2 ways.

if the files are still in the trash connect the USB drive and empty the trash. This should free the space

connect the USB drive and use disk utility to erase the USB drive. Make sure you use either MSDOS file type or exFAT for the file system for maximum compatibility.
Yes. That worked. Thank You very much. I plugged it back in my Mac, emptied the trash and they were off of the USB Flash drive. Thank You!
Thanks DrLucky, it’s just amazing how easy the solution was.
