Dead Sansa Express

My sansa express has been working fine for the last 3 months.  Now when I plug it in to,  it doesn’t matter which computer,  I get an  error that the device is not recognized.  When I try to turn on the MP3 player the words Sansa appears briefly and then turns off.  This happened after I was editing some music files (deleting and adding) and has the feel that some software might be corrupted.   I am a little stumped over what to do since I can not any of my computers to see the Express.  Is there anything that I should be trying or should I be searching for a new MP3 player? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Try updating the firmware following the instructions in the attached thread.

Hi guys

I got the same problem with my Sansa Express

Also tried the update but the device has not been recognized by the computer (MTP device…but not in My Computer list as Sansa Express)…so the software doesn´t start. When I try to turn it off the displays shows SanDisk and after a couple of seconds it turn off again.

I would like to know any possible way to format  this device or just reset it so it might get some kind of information back into the memory.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers from Uruguay

Try different computers. I could not get my player to connect to manually update firmware on my desktop but it did connect on my laptop computer.

The firmware update process will include a format of your player, if you are able to connect.

I had this bug. With some digging, I found the solution; either insert a microSD card into the slot, or if you don’t have one handy, a folded up piece of paper will do (just jiggle it around while you push the power button). Miraculously, it will revive. Go figure.
