Cruzer 8 GB filesystem problem

Hi there,

I got a problem with my 8 GB Cruzer recently. I used UltraISO to create a bootable disk with Windows 7 setup on it, everything worked fine. Then I decided to reformat it, so I could use it in my car’s radio. The thing is it must be FAT16, else the radio won’t read it. I used a small program called Bootice to format is as FAT16, but due to its limitation, the created partition was only 4 gigs and the radio still couldn’t read it. The flash drive works fine on computers and a ps3.

The radio was able to read the flash drive before and I remember the partition was around 7.5 GB. The car is a Honda Civic 2007.

I tried to figure out where the problem lies, unfortunately without a success.

I think windows can do this for you. Have you tried using it instead?

If the radio could read it before why did you reformat it??

When you format it to FAT32 make sure the LBA option is enabled.  Some machines won’t read drives unless it is.  You’ll have to find a utility that supports that option because I don’t Windows does.  But I could be wrong.  I haven’t found a need to format something in a long time.
