Connecting My Book Essential 1TB to wireless router

I would like to connect a My Book Essential 1 TB directly into my ASUS wireless N router which has a USB port.

I can see the USB drive on the system in the wireless router setting/controls but I cannot see or access MyBook when I look for it from a laptop wirelessy.  However, I did notice that it shows up as “unmounted” from the wireless settings.

One thing is that before I got my ASUS wireless router, I did have the My Book Essential hooed directly into my old desktop.

Any words of wisdom for this networking neophyte?

Hello,

It could work, however the My Book Essential has not been design to be use as a network drive.
