Connect MyBook 1TB to router...can do?

Hello,  I have a MYBook 1TB drive, at the moment it is connected to the pc by the usb cable that came with the drive,  I would like to connect it to the router Via a USB to RJ45 adaptor and cable so others on the LAN have access.  Is this possible ?   i have hunted thru all forums etc but cannot find an answer.

Thank you   John

Hello,

The My Book drive has not been designed for network use. It has a USB interface so you can connect it directly to your computer trough the USB port.

For network use I Recommend that Western Digital My Book Live

Hello i have a My Book Essential that i have plugged into my Netgear N600 ADSL+2 wireless router which up till now has been streaming media very successfully to our consoles and android mobiles etc.But lately i get the (HTTP Error: no obect found Error) even though it can be accessed from my desktop computer which shows the drive and Readyshare folder.Have tried different media DNLA streamers like Twonky Beam, Mediahouse and Samsung AllShare but none work anymore as far as accessing the My Book folders even though they can be seen.It is not the router as i plugged a usb memory stick into it and it shows and plays the media, movie photos and music.Just need to know why i get the HTTP Error message and how to access and stream the media on the My Book again. I have updated the drivers on both the router and My Book. And what does the button on the rear of the My Book do please.Thank you in advance.
