I have a M250, my computer uses Windows XP, and it can’t seem to detect that the device is connected. I know my usb ports all work, I tested them with my camera. I managed to get the device to be acknowledged once. Now I have three whole songs on it and can’t add anymore! The device acknowledges the computer but the computer doesn’t acknowledge the device. Can anyone help?

Have you tried switching the MSC/MTP setting?

I just did what Craig wrote and it worked, so I’d suggest trying it if you haven’t already.

I found out that my problem was, I was hooking it up to an external USB Port. Try plugging it into the back of the USB on the computer. It worked for me. Good luck!
Okay so the computer acknowledged the device, I downloaded a ton of songs, now it says their are No files on the device. They were there when I first loaded them. I checked. But now it can’t find a single song! Are all MP3 players this difficult or is it just this one?
Mine drove me nuts. Mine was saying the say thing. I returned it and got a sandisk clip and I love it. I had no problems once the device was detected. It took calling the customer service to walk me through it. Maybe they can help you??? One other question. You are plugging it directly into the USB in the back of the computer, correct? I was using the external USB and that was my problem. Let me know how you make out!
cannot get the m250 to switch from MSC to MTP…when plugged into USB port get message “usb connected msc”…and it never goes any further. Hitting menu produces no results.
I used to be able to connect via USB and see all of the songs on the m250 - which was practically full.
When trying to listen to those songs w/out computer link…it indicates "rebuilding library…then finalizing update…and never finishes…but simply turns off.
