For starters, maybe make sure the music files you are trying to play are the same file type as the one song that plays OK for you. The player does best with mp3 files. The player may choke on iTunes protected music files (m4p). There are 100’s of helpful discussions throughout this SanDisk Forum with tons of helpful information.

The mp3 music files you found on your new player are contributed by SanDisk Co. Not by a previous owner. These files are provided to give the new owner something to play right out of the box. You can leave or delete or anything you wish with these free music files.

The Clip Jam, players support AAC/M4A, DRM-free file formats from iTunes.

All other Sansa players (e.g. Fuze, Clip, Clip +, e200 series, c200 series) require converting AAC/M4A to MP3 format, refer to the following articles:
