I erased my Clip Jam 8GB MP3 player and now see a “File System Error!” message and it powers off. When connected to my computer I am able copy files to it, but when disconnected I see the message and it powers off again.

I tried going through the support articles, but could not find what anything that helped.
I even tried downloading and putting the . Hex file for the latest firmware for the clip jam on the root of the device and it just gives me the same error and powers off. I bought it just over 2 years ago and only used it as a source for white sounds for my son to sleep to.
Now that I want to make actual use of it this bs happens.
