Cleaning the USB port?

I have a Clip + and absolutely love it, but how do I go about cleaning out the usb port of it? I occasionally slip the player into my jeans and a small amount of lint has built up in the usb port that I can’t pull out.

I don’t want to continue plugging in the usb cable and packing more junk into the back of the port.

Does anyone have a suggestions to safely clean out the port?

I’ve actually used a small Post-It note, adhesive side out and folded small, to place into the port and clean out the lint.
