cheap clear cover for clip+ ? also, link to cover for USB port

Hi boys and girls, just got my new clip+ in the mail today, and BOY am I impressed.  8 gb + 16 gb card, $86 from Amazon, and I’ve got my entire music collection on something the size of a matchbook.  Sounds better than my e280, too.  Good job, Sandisk.

Now, my question:  is there a cheaper clear sheet cover (full frontal) for the Clip+ than this one:  http://www.amazon.com/ZAGG-invisibleSHIELD-Protective-Sansa-Clear/dp/B003FSTBZY/ref=sr\_1\_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280523798&sr=8-2 ?

I’m not paying $25, no way.  There’s a $1.99 cover at Amazon, but it’s only for the screen.  If I can’t find anything else, I’ll get it.

Oh, stumbled across this, a little cover for the USB port:  http://www.bestbyte.net/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store\_Code=BB&Product\_Code=CBUS01CPMF&Category\_Code=  I’m gonna get a couple of those.

Welcome back C-Numb!

You, being the inventive and resourceful guy that you are, you could probably use this to make a clear skin for your new Clip+:

It’s a lot less than 25 bucks and you could could replace it as often as you want! :stuck_out_tongue:

Superb username!

Y’know, that might work…

I had only been aware of the $1.99 face protector, which actually seems pretty decent, as it covers the entire front of the player.

Although the invisibleShield looks nice as well, I agree with you as to the price (you could buy another Clip for that).  Although I also found it a bit cheaper separately at Amazon.com, at $14.99.

Between the 2, the invisibleShield, I’m guessing, is thicker, and perhaps a bit shock-absorbing.  But as people say that the Clip+ is very scratch-resistant to begin with, the $1.99 version may be just fine.

For whatever it’s worth, I went to the invisibleShield website (zagg.com) and they offer 3 levels of protection for the Clip+, from $9.99 (screen protector) to $14.99 (2 types of full body coverage, one of which seems to be what’s at Amazon–I can’t tell which, though).  The manf. also offers a 45-day money-back guarantee at its website, if you decide you don’t like the product (it’s unclear to me if that refunds the shipping, $2.99 in the U.S.).

Personally, I’d like you to try the invisibleShields (all types) out, so that you can report back to us.

When I got my Clip+, I managed to snag a DLO Action Jacket case (plus velcro armband) for it, which I like:  it’s full body protection; it’s stylish; it has an almost full-face sheet of clear acetate on the front, protecting the Clip+ but still showing it off; and it adds some padding for the front and sides/corners/edges of the Clip+, which I really like (I can be a klutz).  I got it at a great sale price–no way was I going to pay the original $30 sales price.

Checking at Amazon.com just now, though, I saw that you can get the DLO case from a 3rd-party store there at $1.95 + 5.78 shipping.  At that price, I’d be very tempted to grab it, as long as you’re fine with its fully body, fuzzy neoprene cover, which adds a small amount of bulk to the player (but which leaves all controls accessible).  A nice advantage it has over the invisibleShield, beyond the price, is the shock-absorbing nature of the case.  It’s unclear to me how many cases the third-party store might have.

At any rate, I hope this helps.  Go to it, and let us know how it works out!

By the way, I had seen the USB port rubber plugs earlier as well (had posted it here).  The only one of its kind that I’ve seen.  The only things:  the price really should be less than 49 cents per (why not 2 or 3 for 49 cents?); and s/h at $2.50 is a tad high for a small, nonbreakable part like this.  But it is what it is.  (My recommendation:  get a few at this price, as the shipping doesn’t change until more than 6 or so.)

Thanks Miik.  Your first link, $1.99, is what I already decided to get unless I can find a full-frontal for cheap.  Your second link, $14.99, seems to be the screen-only version of the $24.99.

I have an e280, and had a few different cases for it over the years. I decided it really didn’t need a case at all, just a decent screen protector.  That’s what I’ll get for the clip – if, that is, I get anything at all.

And yes, I’m going to get half a dozen of those USB covers.

As my friends from the e200 forum will tell you, I’m one cheap b*stard (except when it comes to Scotch).

The $1.99 screen seems the way to go, then.

I now see the difference between the 2 invisibleShield offerings at Amazon.com–I had been going by the pics, which are identical.  Definitely better/cheaper to buy from the manf., if going the invisibleShield route.

But with the low price of the DLO Action Jacket, that option would be mighty tempting.

And I agree as to the thriftiness, especially for these small pieces of protection for the Clips!

Great links! Thanks ya’ll!

Darcy

I bought the $1.99 cover, couldn’t get it to go on without bubbles, had to toss it.  I wouldn’t mind trying again, but if I do, I’ll try to get at least two of 'em.  I think I could have gotten to work if I had had a second try.  It’s a nice cover, if you can get it to lay flat. It covers the whole front surface of the player.

Also, the USB port cover fits fine.
