Can't see my new 2TB external hard drive

I have just received my 2TB Sandisk Professional G-Drive Armor ATD external hard drive. I cannot get my computer to see this external hard drive. The little white light is glowing on the top of the drive and I can feel a slight humming from it but I cannot get File Explorer or anything else on my Windows 10 PC to see this hard drive. Please help!

@philongold G-Drive Armor ATD is HDD which is handled by the WD Community. However, the same solution for SDD will apply to HDD.

If the light is on and it’s humming it sounds like it’s getting power. Have you checked Disk Management to see if it shows up there?

Maybe it needs to be initialized or has a weird file system?

Thank you for the info.
The Hard drive did need to be Initialsing or whatever it’s called.
I was just about pulling my hair out with frustration.
Why can’t Sandusky’s put a note in with the disk saying what needs to be done to get the External Hard drive to work with Windows. I notice that you don’t have to do any of this stuff is you are running a Mac!
At least it is working now, but only after I spent a whole afternoon frustrated and wishing I had never bought this thing.
Cheers anyway. Phil

Your 2TB SanDisk G-Drive Armor ATD is powered on but not detected by Windows 10. Try these:

Check connections – Use a different USB cable/port or another PC.
Disk Management – Press Win + X → Disk Management. If the drive shows as Unallocated, create a new volume. If Not Initialized, initialize it as GPT.
Device Manager – Look under Disk Drives or USB Controllers for errors. Update or reinstall drivers.
Power Settings – Disable USB power-saving in Device Manager.
Try these steps and check if the drive appears.
