Cannot password protect SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card

I Cannot password protect SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card using SanDisk Security on Windows 11. It says, "Attach a supported SanDisk Drive " but when I plug my SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card into the USB port, it doesn’t recognize it.

@Nederlansk USB Flash Drives and Memory Cards are not supported by SanDisk Security. Check Supported Products

It seems like the issue may be related to compatibility between SanDisk Security software and the SD card. Here’s what you can try:

  1. Check the Card Reader: Ensure your SD card is properly inserted into a working card reader that supports SDXC cards. Sometimes, the built-in SD card reader on some laptops doesn’t support SDXC cards, especially if it’s older.

  2. Update Drivers: Make sure that your USB drivers and SD card reader drivers are up to date. Go to Device Manager on Windows 11 and check for updates for your SD card reader.

  3. Format the SD Card: If the card is not being recognized at all, you might need to format it (but be aware this will erase all data). Right-click on the drive in This PC, select Format, and make sure it’s formatted as exFAT, which is compatible with your SDXC card.

  4. SanDisk Security Compatibility: Double-check that your version of SanDisk Security supports the SDXC card format, as some older versions may have issues recognizing newer SD cards.

If the card is still not recognized, consider using alternative encryption software that may be more compatible with your SD card.

Hi @Nederlansk

SanDisk Security does not support flash drives or memory cards, as mentioned by @SBrown . For your SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card, here are some additional steps you can try apart from the ones mentioned by @Scarletioshub

  1. Try a Different USB Port or Card Reader: The issue may lie with the specific port or reader. Test a different USB port or a higher-quality external card reader to see if the card is recognized.
  2. Alternative Encryption: If the above steps don’t work, you can consider using Windows BitLocker or third-party encryption software for securing your SD card.
  3. Windows 11 Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully updated, as there might be compatibility fixes for SD cards or USB devices.
