SanDisk 256GB Extreme microSDXC Card not recognized by my Windows 10 PC or my Galaxy S10+ phone

Just removed from the packaging. They aren’t recognizing the storage at all. As a result, I don’t have the option to format it or anything.

  1. Tried it on my phone. Not recognized.

  2. Sandisk’s own Memory Zone app doesn’t recognize that anything is there.

  3. Tried it on my SD card reader with it slotted into the Micro SD Card slot. Didn’t work.

  4. Tried putting the MIcroSD card into an SD Card adapter. Didn’t work.

  5. Plugged the reader into both USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. Didn’t work.

  6. All my Windows Drivers are up to date. Wonder what troubleshooting steps I should take.

Just wondering what further steps I should take before possibly returning it.

Seems like you’ve covered all the bases. I’d return it.

Hello, maybe you can update the card driver or assign the New Drive Letter for SD Card to fix SD card not reading error, try to assign the new drive letter for SD card.

Press Win+ R and then type: diskmgmt.msc , right-click on your SD card device, and choose “ Change drive letter and paths ” and click Change , assign a new drive letter and follow the steps as shown in the windows.

And here I think this page may help you solve this issue, there lists so many dolutions, hope it can help you.

I had the same issue before, and running the CHKDSK command helped. If it’s not showing in Disk Management, check Device Manager to see if it’s detected. This guide has some useful fixes: Fix SD Card Not Recognized in Windows 10. Hope it helps!

I can appreciate how annoying it is when your Windows 10 computer or your Galaxy S10+ do not recognize a SanDisk 256GB Extreme microSDXC card. Since neither device can identify it, the problem might be caused by file system corruption, PC driver issues, or physical damage to the card. To rule out hardware incompatibility, you can try using a different card reader or another device to check the card first. Even in the absence of a drive letter, you can check to see if the card shows up in Disk Management on Windows 10. If so, you might be able to assign a letter or reformat it, though reformatting erases all data. Try restarting your phone in safe mode or clearing the cache partition to be certain there isn’t a software conflict.

However, the safest course of action is to use a professional data recovery tool if your card is still not recognized or if you are concerned about losing important files. Photographs, videos, documents, and other types of files can be recovered from corrupted or inaccessible microSD cards using tools like BLR Data Recovery Tool. The program supports recovery from both logical errors and accidental deletion, and it is compatible with large-capacity cards, such as your 256GB microSDXC. Using a straightforward interface, all you have to do is insert the card into a reader, allow the tool to conduct a thorough scan, and view any recoverable files before saving them. This guarantees that you can recover important data even if the card isn’t displaying correctly on your phone or computer.
