I just bought a SanDisk Clip Jam to run a looped music track for a museum expo opening in a week. Very impressive product, considering its cheap price and tiny size! Installed the mp3 files on a micro SD and am outputting the audio —from the headphone/earbuds jack— into an external sound system. So far everything works, and I could have spent vastly more money to get a not-much-superior DMP. I like also that the USB input when wired to an external charger, seems to have no problem keeping the internal battery topped up, and not interfering with the playback function. My present set-up entails leaving the Clip Jam on all the time, and just having the museum staff switch on and off the external audio amp. The user guide’ s manual’s safety warnings, however, says to keep the output volume low and/or to shut off the Clip Jam when not in use. Is there actually a problem to leave it on, with charger cable keeping the battery up, and just running the sound installation rig during visitors hours by flipping on the external audio amp power switch?
