browse by folder / no id3 tags??

Hi folks,

about to buy either a fuze or a clip+.  Like the look of the fuse except for -

I listen to some downloaded podcasts etc that aren’t always id3 tagged properly and I want to be able to browse by folder on the device, not just id3 tags.  (Yes I know id3 is better and I will use it, but I don’t want to have to add tags myself if I’m in a hurry - would like the ability to browse by folder if I need to.)

Does the latest fuze with latest firmware allow browsing by folder?

Are there issues with not finding tracks that aren’t tagged right?  For hits am I safest with the clip or will the fuse find things by file name if it needs to…?

Sorry I know this is probably covered, but I’ve looked and still not certain on this.

Also, 2nd question -from other posts am I right that clip+ has gapless play capability that the fuze doesn’t have??

thinking about the clip+ as a better player now…! (don’t need video etc)

thanks folks!

Andy.

Are there issues with not finding tracks that aren’t tagged right?  Only if you’re looking through the menu listings. With Folders, no.

At the present time the Clip+ does not support gapless playback. But stay tuned, it might come in a firmware update. One can always hope.

By my count, this is your 4th question. :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks!! brilliant. will go for the fuze then…

Yes, the folder browsing in Fuze is not bad, however, for some reason, the developers have put the folder browsing option line at the end of a rather long browser options list - which annoys me no end since I do not use tag-based browsing at all. Every time you look for a file you have to scroll down. One would have thought they could have put a direct icon shortcut to the folders on the welcoming screen - I would easily trade the slotradio icon for a folder browsing icon…  It looks like that they are afraid that that function might make Fuze more feature rich and attract more customers …

My grumblings aside,  I use folder browsing without any problem. In fact I bought Fuze as soon as they had announced the introduction of folder browsing last spring.

Or put in wrap-around scrolling on that menu.
