battery charging time problem

I received my new 2gig sansa clip the day before yesterday and have already been updating the firmware to the newest version. everything works fine so far except on thing:

i have it plugged into the poweroutlet (yes, i do have a usb-poweroutlet adapter) and it is still charging the battery - even after approx. 10 hours! the battery status is at circa 80% atm.
is this normal for the first charge?
is charging the sansa clip via the computer faster?

or is my device just broken?

other than that, i must admit i am very pleased with the clip so far…

10 hours is a long time to charge, Try the USB on your computer to see if it will top it off to 100%

ok, i will now try to charge it via the pc…
just two questions:
does the display always have to be on when you have your clip plugged to the pc?
and second:
on my clip-display when connected, it first shows the “connected” picture and after that a fading SanDisk logo in a loop - is that normal?

Yes, except if you can put your pc into standby but still have power on the USB ports (my laptop works like that), then the display will turn off after some seconds.

Yes

thanks for the answer!
i think the solution of my problem is that the usb-poweroutlet-charger didn’t work with my clip
i plugged the player to my pc and it loaded about 5% in 10 mins - so this works the way it was intended!

Okay mine is just the 1gb but when I got it the thing would not charge.  My husband did some research and found out that you have to switch the USB mode from “auto-detect” to MSC.  The on-screen menu, choose settings and then USB Mode.  As soon has he made the change, it began charging like a champ through the USB port.

Hope it helps

BamyOO, if that works fine for you then great - but the player should definitely be able to charge from USB also in MTP mode…

thanks a lot for the hint!
right now the clip is (finally) fully charged, next time i will try your trick…
with electronic devices, you never know…
