Anyone know where I can get a replacement USB to Clip cable. I’m concerned the molded connector in the middle of
the existing cable may cantain components that are neccessary for a proper connection.

The molded device in the middle of the Clip’s pigtail is most likely an RF suppressing ferrite cylinder. The Clip is quite happy with longer Mini-USB cables available for digital cameras, and other devices.
Perhaps you could call 1-866-SANDISK and inquire about spares? They may be able to point you to a source, otherwise, I have tested several standard “camera” cables, with success.
