2GB Sansa Clip volume problem

I have a 1-2month old Sansa Clip. I’m very happy with the way it works so far, except for one fairly big problem. ’

Ever so occasionally, after skipping to a new track, the volume goes through the roof and practically BLOWS MY HEAD OFF with sound… It’s to the point that I have to rip the headphones out when it happens because it’s so loud and sudden. When this happens, the volume control is not working… Slider is where I left it, but the actual volume is WAY higher, presumably the max output that the player can handle. Solution is to skip again, which fixes the issue…

Anyone ever had the same problem? Any permanent fix? I have the latest firmware. Since it’s flat-out painful when it happens, I’m seriously considering getting another player, despite it only having happened around 5-6 times total since I got it.

I’ve not noticed this but I’ve had sort of the opposite! A new song comes on and it plays really quiet compared to the others but when I change the EQ it all of a sudden jumps back to the proper volume.

Same issue here, and it’s really pissing me off (i’m using IEMs).

I have a 1 year old 4GB Clip set on normal volume, and this happens from times to times. Never happened on my 2GB Clip though.

I know this also happened to another guy on a French forum so there might be a bug here.

Happens to me too with both Clips.

Be sure to have the latest firmware installed on your device.

You’ve latched onto the tail end of a thread that’s over a year old! There was a firmware update that resolved this issue some time ago. When the last time you updated the firmware (if ever) on your Clips?

Hi there

i’m a bit late sorry (i’m not a regular here)

I think i had the 1.30 firmware when this problem occured. But i had the US firmware in an European Clip. I tried the European 1.30 firmware after posting here so it’s been two weeks and no problem since then. I remember trying the 1.32 firmware a while ago but i don’t think it solved the problem… So maybe this was a region issue?
