When I connect my external hard drive, it causes Windows to crash immediately. CHKDSK also fails when I try to scan it. I suspect it may be due to corruption or hardware issues, but I’m unsure. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? Any help would be appreciated!
To fix your external drive, try these steps: First, boot in Safe Mode to connect the drive without crashing and use a data recovery software like Stellar Data Recovery, Undelete, or wise data recovery instead of CHKDSK. Or, connect the drive to another computer or a Linux system, which might access it more easily. If these don’t work, consider professional data recovery services.
