What's up with the connector?

Whats with the usb connector on the fuze? Is it the same size as the i-poop? I read on here that it is but it’s wired different and will fry the fuze if you plug it into the i-poop adapter? is this true for speakers and such too (the usb, not the headphone plug d’uh lol)

WTF is up with these companies taking the “universal” out of usb? they should be forced to call it something other than usb if it is not truely “universal”  but i guess one end is still “universal” phhfff…

The first mp4 player the wife got me had just a mini usb plug, same size as my camera, psp, nds, etc…  just too bad it was a Coby and it was a piece of ■■■■ lmao… so i exchanged for my fuze, which is mucho better.

I am not sure what you have read on here but the USB adapter on the Fuze is a USB adapter as far as I can tell.  I charge my Fuze with the same AC charger that I use for my Clip, Zune and Garmin GPS.  I also have the 12V adapter and it works fine.  What are you trying to use the USB for that you have read warnings about?

The “business end” (end that connects into the fuze) is indeed proprietary and cannot be used with other brands of players.

THe saving grace is that they don’t seem to raking us over on price.  I found a kit with spare cable plus AC/usb adapter, plus cig lighter/USB adapter for under $20.  For my kid’s player I got a kit with AC plus Cig lighter chargers with non-detachable cords (so won’t work as a standalone usb cable) for ~$6 including shipping.
