What if I start a new backup when there are already files on the drive?

I have copied files over to my new WD My Book 4TB external drive.

I have installed the WD tools for backup.

Before I actually set the schedule for the backups, what will happen to the data already on the drive? Will WD Backup create a new folder and back up to that, leaving the rest as is? I don’t see a step to indicate in what folder I want the backup to occur.

Hi,

WD Backup will create a new folder WD Backup.swstor, which contains all your backuped files plus a couple of others. Be prepared for a long process time. You might just want to do a small area first and confirm it worked by opening Restore option in WD Backup to view files without actually restoring them. The WD Backup will use nearly twice the space of the files copied.

Your’e existing files should remain in place.
