What am I doing wrong?

Posted this earlier and it’s still pending. Purchased a San disk ultra flair flash drive 128gb. Transferred one 2.3 go film then tried to copy another file 4.3 go and it says it’s too big. Driveways I have 112gb unused. What am I missing here?

Did you reformat it? FAT32 will not support files larger than 4 GB. The drive should be formatted as exFAT.

Your SanDisk Ultra Flair flash drive comes pre-formatted to the FAT32 file system. FAT32 has a strict maximum individual file size limit of 4 GB. Warning: move your old files from your flash drive to your computer first. Since formatting the drive will erase everything.

  1. Plug your flash drive into your PC, then open This PC.
  2. Right-click your SanDisk drive icon and select Format…
  3. Look for the File system dropdown menu, and select exFAT (highly recommended if you plan to use the drive on Mac, Linux, or TVs) or NTFS (best if you only use Windows PCs).
  4. Keep “Quick Format” checked and click Start.

Once the reformatting is finished, you will be able to copy your 4.3 GB movie—and even larger files—without any errors.
