WD smartware thinks my password is wrong..!

i recently bought the WD passport ( 1tb) and i ahd saved some important data on ot… so i decided to use the password protection… i kept my passowrd and then took it to my freinds plce later cause i needed to ake some stuff.

I type in the password but it says invalid password… and i just can’t get it to work… not even on my pc… Just incase i don’t forget my pass i have savend it in a txt file tht i encrypted using winrar. i checked that and typed my password in but it still does not accept it…

PLEASE HELP!! I DON"T WANT TO LOSE MY DATA… can anyone help me out… maybe to change my pass or to just be able to get my data back… Waiting for a reply…

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

i have the same problem somebody from WD answers please

i’m ready to take my device myself to you … just tell us what is wrong with the security wihin the password protection ???

1TB drive,  same problem.  Can’t seem to find a solution.  Drive actually worked with password for a few weeks and now is says “Invalid Password”.  Nothing changed?

Hey, I had a problem with my WD my passport essential, it wasnt like this though. I was using it as an external hard drive and it reformatted to RAW. So I used ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery) to recover all of my data. I am not sure if it will work with WD Smartware because it encrypts the data.

You can also try calling the WD Tech support like the other person replied (sorry, I forgot your name).

To crack an encrypted password YOU MUST DO an incredible amount of research before, you must find out what type of hash files are in your driver that store information on the password, YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU’VE GOT THE CORRECT PASSWORD CRACKING METHOD, If you dont you disk HAS A HIGH chance of turning RAW, at which point you have no choice but to use ZAR

 - Good Luck, Hope You Succeed

Problem:

1> WD At The moment Dont Do Password Recovery, Will Tell You To Reformat The Drive

2> Most Of Time This Issue Its Cause Due To Data Corruption

Solution:

1> Try Another Computer

2> Another USB Cable

3> Contact WD Support
