Password Issue

Please help….

I have 1TB My Passport Essential hard drive and I assigned a password on it including password hint, I used the Smartware software and for almost 6 months the HD device is functioning without any issue but after I forget to unplug it from my laptop for quite sometimes the device is not accepting the correct password even I try to use another laptop. It always prompted me invalid username and password. Also one thing I notice the password hint are not readable anymore.

Due to important data I just can’t format the WD HD, Does anyone have any suggestions how to solve this issue? I am using window 7

I haven’t heard of anything that can unlock that drive without the password… Have you tried with a data recovery software?

I have right username and password but the device is not accepting it. As I’m saying, even the password hint is not readable anymore. What do you think are the possible things that went wrong?

What type of data recovery software do you recomend? I haven’t tried using one yet.
