I have recently bought WD My Book live, installed it and also installed all utilities
I have all last version of utilities and firmware I am an a recent desktop computer with windows 8 pro -----(i specify that i have no password to acces to my computerand Windows)— and use an asus router Rt-ac66U for connecting WD My Book live
I have configured the shares and users as public (no private) and put passwords for me as system admin and for a posssible guest
My principal problem is about WDsmartdrive I have paid for updating to pro version and having the possibility to backup on other hard drive than MY Book
First time WDsmartware just give me access to Dropbox as backup target With support help ( from WD Thanks to the helping person) i have changed some settings and Smartware give me access also to My book live as target .I make a backup of photos on it
Just after that (no change in my computer or windows, just shuttdown and open) ,every time i have tried to use WD smartware for making backup, depending of the time
sometimes i just have Drobox displayed as target
sometimes i have Drop box and My Book live but Login is required for My Book live and no one of the password i put during configuration is correct :Authentification failed (message)
sometimes i have My Book live icon as backup target but on it i have the message No writable partition found …
And even i have paid for the pro version i never see my others hd inside WD smartdrive
But fortunatly i have some files on My Book live (from the only one time i have did it) and i can verify if i have access to them by www.wd3go.com Yes it is working i have access and can open files
And my Windows see correctly My book Live on my network as media device and as storage
SO the problem is around my Wdsmartware and possibly with Windows 8 I think
A friend of mine have bought it just a month before and using it with Windows 7 without problem
Is someone using Windows 8 have some problem like the ones i have ? find a solution??
Is someone using version pro see as target its other hard drive ? Why buy version pro if not??
