WD My Passport I/O error

Hi I have been using “WD My Passport Ultra WDBGPU0010BBK 1TB Portalbe External Had Drive (Black)” around 9 months without any issue even it had fell some time. But recently while watching movie the hard disk unpluged and fell by mistake while taking the laptop. After pluging the Hard disk he light on the HD turns on. The Hard Drive is recognized. But it does not show up on Windows Explorer and the Hard Drive is not making vibration kind of noise as it was when Hard Drive working.In Disk Management. It asked to select Partition type for Disk 1. But on selecting both cases, MBR and GPT (one at a time), I got the same error message:

‘The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.’

Any help please

Based on the information you have provided, I believe this drive has failed. I/O error means the drive is having issues writing or reading data.

Thanks for your reply, What must I do to solve this issue? Is there any way to get my data back because it has more documents and projects.

You could try using a data recovery software. If this does not work then you could contact a data recovery company.

I did not try for recovery rather I replaced the hard disk. If you have
warranty you can replace
