WD - My Passport 4TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive (Blue) started clicking after I did a Windows update and restarted the computer. The screen stayed black after it was trying to restart and then the external started clicking.
Restarted computer and now the drive won’t show up and it is still clicking

Do you have a backup of the files on it?
You can try a different USB cable, different USB Port, even a different PC. If you get it to connect and run, immediately copy everything from it.
If it’s still not working, there’s not much you can do except send to a data recovery specialist (no guarantee they recover anything). If the drive is under warranty, you can still get the drive replaced.
The clicking sounds indicates that your drive has failed physically. You can try windows data recovery software to recover your data, because that’s the only option you have to retrieve your data from a failed hard drive, To save your money and overcome your doubts you can try the free version of it.
