WD Elements 500GB : Toooooo much slow transfer rate : Mostly remain at 0 bytes

My WD element 500 GB takes 5 hours in transferring a 11 GB file . I tried various ports in the laptop . My machine has no virus. it executed too slowly in different machines i tried. 

Most times it would remain at 0 bytes/sec and occassionally it will jump to 8 mb/sec.

This is very annoying after investing on purchasing a external drive which behaves like dead drive.

have you tried it on a different computer ?   (that’s the 1st thing i would do … to see if it’s the PC, HDD or USB Port that’s at fault)
