USing passport as regular external drive

I recently erased the data on my external drive as I had completed a big project where the back up was essential. I would now like to use My Passport as a regular external drive that I can copy data to, work on documents and move between different computers but without the auto back up. However it only seems to let me save changes to documents if the computer I am working on has WD SES driver software on. I would like to be able to use it in the same way I can my USB flashdrives where I can use on any computer - is this possible?

The WD SES driver is not the backup program, that is only to make the passport work with your computer. If you are not using Smartware or any other backup program you can use the passport like any USB memory.

Yup…

software is optional… you can use the drive to drag and drop / copy paste

also you can use any other third party backup software
