I presently have a My Book Essential SE drive with WD Smartware installed and running on my laptop. I’ve just got a My Passport Essential SE drive and wish to use both external drives as auto backups. Will the existing installed WD Smartware allow use of both external drives or do I have to go through a separate WD Smartware installation process again with the new Passport drive. I ask partly because when I go to do a software update, it asks for the model of external drive I am using.
Hi dude, Smartware is the same in all drives, what changes is the firmware.
