Updating Rockbox . . .

So I installed Rockbox a while ago.  I have loved it very, very much.  About a week ago, I was wondering if there was an alarm clock function on it and there wasn’t.

Rockbox 3.6 has this now.  It was released today.  I would like to upgrade to this.

So can I uninstall Rockbox with the Rockbox Utility, upgrade the Sandisk firmware to the newest one (because I don’t have it and would like it), and install the new version of Rockbox all without harming my Fuze? (I’m trying my best not to kill it.)

If you already have Rockbox on your fuze, just download the latest rockbox and unzip it to your Fuze, overwriting what is already there. There is no need to have to uninstall it, get the Fuze firmware, patch it, install it, etc.

Unless you uninstalled Rockbox and are currently running only the Fuze firmware.

Actually, I wanted the latest Sandisk firmware along with the latest Rockbox version.  It also helps my computer to stop saying my Fuze has an update.

It doesn’t take long to install it anyway, nor will I lose anything (except all the themes), so I think I will just uninstall it then reinstall it.

You should uninstall the Sansa Updater from your computer. If you can install Rockbox, you can manually install the firmware after its infrequent updates.

I manually installed it, and it was successful.  Manually installing it is the easiest way to go.
