Unit failed and WD are not responding properly

I am very upset with WD not only because their external hard drive failed miserably after only a few weeks - even though it never actually worked very well, and was always unstable -  but also with their very unsatisfactory response.  After a long time finding out where to go and getting through to the right department I was told that because i bought it on Amazon from someone in another country (i was caught out there) it is “OUT OF REGION”.

I was not aware that a guarantee did not apply if an item was bought from another country, so I will be more chary in the future, in fact I’ll probably never again buy any new electrical equipment from abroad.

Not very impressive, but since then they were supposed to let me know the next step but they haven’t and it seems like I have just hit a dead end.

I can hardly bear to go through all the rigmarole of their ridiculously complicated procecdures again.

This is so well out of order.  I bought what I thought was an excellent piece of equipment only to find out it is actually a piece of scrap - I said s**bleep**! - and having lost precious files and many hours of precious work, I have had to waste more  time trying to get a replacement or refund.  I am not too sure I want a replacement either, as I’ll never trust this particular brand name again!

I suppose they are hoping that I will just get fed up and then disappear.  Well I’m not going to.  They ought not be selling such unstable equipment.

Hopefully there is someone who can do something about this on these boards, as If I don’t hear from them pronto I’m going right over to Amazon to leave a one star rating warning people if they value their money, time and data, not to buy one of these units.

Does anyone know what I can do next, please?
