Unable to turn off Sansa Fuze+ even with holding the on/off button down for 20 seconds

I am unable to turn off Sansa Fuze+ even with holding the on/off button down for 20 seconds. I have held it down for much longer than that with no effect. Is there any other way to get this thing to turn off or to reset it?
