I originally formated the My Passport for my Macbook Air. I later gave the Macbook Air to my grand daughter and bought a new pc laptop. I would now like to use the My Passport on the new PC Laptop but can’t figure out how to reformat it. I doesn’t show up in my file manager when I plug the drive in to the laptop’s usb port. It does, however, make the windows 10 sound when I plug the drive in. It also shows the drive as connected in the open devices and printers window on the taskbar, and the blue light is on. I can feel and hear the My Passport spinning.
Here is a suggestion, formatting a drive for Windows 10 can be easy but the area you need to access can be dangerous! DOUBLE CHECK YOU HAVE SELECTED THE RIGHT DRIVE YOU WANT TO FORMAT BEFORE CLICKING ON “FORMAT!”
Step 1: Select search for “Computer Management”
Step 2: Open computer management and select storage from drop down list.
Step 3: Select “Disk Management” from list.
Step 4: (Be careful you select the correct disk) Highlight your “My Passport” drive and right click the mouse for options.
Step 5: Format the drive. (DOUBLE CHECK YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT DRIVE!)
I tried this, but My Passport does not show up in the Disk Management list.
