I have a 3TB MyPassport Wireless Pro (firmware updated to v1.03.04). I have copied over less than 1TB of Music and Video and had, previously 2.1 TB of free space reported on my Dashboard. Last week, suddenly, that free space was drastically reduced to 237 GB. I had not copied any other files during this time and should still have 2.1 TB of free space but I don’t. Everything seems to be correctly reported (317 GB Video, 262 GB Music, 2 GB Photos - which I’m guessing is artwork) except that I now have 1.9TB designated as “Other”. I’ve checked the folder sizes for each folder on MyPassport (I’m using a Mac) but I cannot account for the 1.9TB of “Other” storage.
Any idea how/why I suddenly have “other” space which is no longer available? Can I free up this space without having to reset my device to factory settings? And, possibly more importantly, any idea how this happened so that I can avoid it in future?
